Dock Optimizer has added Intellicheck driver’s-license verification to freight pickup workflows, according to Biometric Update’s report. The integration is designed to add an identity-document check before cargo is released, addressing fictitious pickups in which criminals impersonate carriers or use false shipment information.
The workflow is relatively narrow. During self-check-in, a driver scans a QR code with a smartphone and then scans the PDF417 barcode on the back of a driver’s license. Intellicheck analyzes security data in that barcode to assess whether the document is authentic. Checks can also be performed at facility gates and through Dock Optimizer’s Door Manager interface. The process does not use facial biometric matching, so an apparently valid license is not evidence by itself that the presenter is the person named on it. Biometric Update also reports that shippers can apply their own verification requirements at third-party facilities if checks run through their Intellicheck accounts. Results, license details and timestamps are retained with appointment records for three years.
Conmitto’s Dock Optimizer product page describes the same control as a “2D PDF417 barcode scan” at check-in, with the identity result reviewed against the appointment. The page positions driver verification alongside scheduling, yard management and digital bills of lading, and says the platform is already used in production. Those are vendor claims, not independent performance measurements.
The practical distinction for buyers is between document authentication and shipment authorization. The barcode check can add evidence that a presented license has expected security data and can tie that result to an appointment record. It does not, based on the documented workflow, verify the driver’s face or by itself establish that the presenter is authorized to collect a particular shipment. For appointments at third-party facilities, shippers can use their own verification requirements if the checks are processed through their Intellicheck accounts. Neither fetched document provides false-acceptance rates, failure rates or an independent evaluation of the system.
